Buying Medals
Bidding and Bid Limit
You may bid by mail, fax, or e-mail at any FJP auction.
When you do so, a member of the staff executes your bid for you. There is no
charge for this service. You may also execute your bid in person at any live
auction. Live auctions are held each August and, February. Bids executed on
your behalf by FJP are actually bid limits, the maximum you are willing to
bid for a lot. If you are the highest bidder, you are charged the price at
which the bidding stops. For example, if your bid limit is $150.00 and the
next highest bid is $100.00, then you buy the lot at one bidding increment
above the $100.00 bid or $110.00. The Buyer’s Premium is paid on top of the
winning bid. Please use the bidding form downloadable from this site.
Tie Bids
In the event two clients place identical bids, the first
such bid received is declared the winner. To prevent tie bids, FJP suggests
you bid in dollar increments above the regular bidding increment, say
$152.00 rather than $150.00. Odd cent bids are rounded off to the nearest
dollar.
Confidentiality
All bids are strictly confidential. No bid will be
disclosed to another bidder, nor will the high bid on any given lot be
revealed to any client under any circumstance.

Mail consignments to the Hilton Head office at: P.O. Box
5879, Hilton Head, SC 29936.
All consignments are sold according to the Conditions of
Sale published in each auction catalog and downloadable from this website.
FJP deducts a 15% Sellers Premium from the hammer price of each item sold.
FJP will also sell consigned lots by private treaty if the client prefers
the material not be auctioned.
Estimate and Reserve
Based upon our expertise, FJP estimates the value of each
lot consigned to auction. The estimate is provided as a range of value with
low and high figure. Many lots are sold within the estimated price, some are
sold above estimate. The low estimate is a minimum bid. Bids below will be
accepted, provided they are higher than the consignor’s reserve price.
Consignors may establish a reserve price below which the lot can not be
sold. However, it is accepted in the industry that high reserve prices tend
to discourage bids. Most consignors do not set a reserve.
Internet Sales
Internet sales have been temporarily suspended.
